20000 Leagues Under The Sea Movie
Director David Fincher is set to helm a remake of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea for Disney. And it sounds like he's going to use motion-cap and CGI, and probably mix it with live action. Here's what he said about 20000 Leagues Under The Sea:
"I would love to do something probably more like Avatar than Tintin. I like the idea of something that is a little more… complicated. (chuckles) I love the idea of a 'cartoon', but I would like it to be sort of very, very dense. And, in fact, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will be probably 70% CG. [...] I love motion capture and think it's only in its infancy, and eventually there won't be a difference between motion capture and acting. because that's all motion capture is, it's being able to capture acting."

For those who aren't familiar with 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, it is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne, it was first published in 1870. It tells the story of Captain Nemo and his submarine Nautilus as seen from the perspective of Professor Pierre Aronnax. There have been many adaptations of Jules Vernes' novel, but the deep sea isn't as mysterious as it was: thanks to submarines, which are now common, we've indeed seen most of it.
Here's the trailer of the 1954 produced by Disney:
Well let's hope David Fincher's take on 20000 Leagues Under The Sea will give a new life to the story.
